Justin designed and built the Great Hills house for a Lego design competition sponsored by Dwell and Pacific Standard Time. The contest challenged entrants to construct an original home referencing mid-century architecture in California. Justin wrote,
Drawing inspiration from the rocks and scrub and relief of the SoCal landscape itself, this split-level home invites you to enjoy sprawling views and an endless horizon. Splashes of effervescent color, just as contemporary today as they were in the Golden Age of Hollywood, adorn concrete walls and slate floors. One can imagine this spartan space perched firmly above the Hollywood Hills, exuding a timeless California vibe that is at once modern and old school.
The house features recessed windows and lighting, with artwork and furniture inside. The exterior includes two patios, connected with a terraced walkway, and shaded areas for protecting plants. Check out the photos below and vote for Great Hills here.
